Aaron Mercer says it's a busy time of year to be a service technician who works on heaters.

An employee of Badger Heating & Air Conditioning, Mercer said Wednesday he's been to plenty of homes while on call the past week, dealing with everything from routine inspections to major service.

"Some days, it seems like it never ends, and the days kind of roll together," said Mercer, who has worked as a service technician for about 17 years. "This is the time when people call, so you expect it." ...
