Primaries not needed for Wisconsin Rapids City Council, School Board

There will be no February primaries in the races for Wisconsin Rapids City Council and Wisconsin Rapids School Board.

As of Wednesday's 5 p.m. deadline, two people had filed nomination papers for City Council, including the 20 to 40 signatures necessary to get on the ballot, for each of the two contested seats, City Clerk Shane Blaser said. That means if there is a Supreme Court primary, all voters in the city would have the same ballot.

"It means potentially less work for us because (even with a Supreme Court primary), it would be the same ballot style for the entire city," Blaser said. ...
