Series: The Titans lead 22-20 and won both meetings last season.

UWGB update: The Phoenix is looking for its first road win. Thursday's 64-53 loss at Wright State in the Horizon League opener dropped UWGB to 0-6 in true road games. In Wardle's 21/2 seasons as coach, UWGB is 7-31 in road games, including 5-14 in road conference games. ... In his first game back from a four-game suspension, senior forward Brennan Cougill had 17 points on 7-of-9 shooting in 19 minutes at Wright State. ... Junior guard Kam Cerroni, who made at least one 3-pointer in every Horizon League game last season, missed his only attempt against Wright State.

Detroit update: Coming off an NCAA tournament appearance last season, the Titans were picked second this season and won their league opener on Thursday at home against UW-Milwaukee, 74-59. They won have seven of their last eight, and the only loss in that stretch came at third-ranked Syracuse by four points. ... Guard Ray McCallum Jr., the son of the head coach, leads the league in scoring at 18.4 ppg, but the preseason pick for player of the year was held to 13 points against UWM. ... Among the team's newcomers is Juwan Howard Jr., who transferred from Western Michigan. ... The Titans are short-handed on their coaching staff after a pair of assistants were forced out this fall. The school's athletic director also resigned amid controversey over her relationship with assistant coach Derek Thomas, one of two who resigned.
