Funding shift for block grants starts Monday

About 10 Fox Valley organizations will plead their case for federal funding through community block grants under a new distribution system this year.

That process begins Monday at the Community and Economic Development Committee, which along with a seven-member panel will dole out about $63,000 in the grants.

"The new policy has the advisory board that will review all the applications," said Karen Harkness, the city's community and economic development director. "The minimum awards are $10,000." ...
