Tryst ends drug investigator's career

The career of a Winnebago County drug investigator came to an end after an alcohol-fueled sexual encounter with a confidential informant in July.

Greg Weitz, who had been employed with the Winnebago County Sheriff's Office for 18 and spent the last eight as a drug investigator with the Lake Winnebago Area Metropolitan Enforcement Group, resigned Oct. 17 after an internal investigation by the department supported claims that Weitz had sex with a confidential informant on July 26.
