Colby show choir kicks off competition season

Energy levels ran high Saturday as young performers from around the state kicked off show choir competition season at the Central Wisconsin Show Choir Spectacular hosted by Colby High School.

High school students from 16 schools, some as far away as Green Bay and Mayville, performed medleys of five or six songs in hopes of being awarded the grand champion trophy at the end of the competition.

Awards also were given for best male and female soloists, duet or small group performance, stage crew and spirit. The school that bought the most smoothies Saturday received the Brain Freeze Award. ...
