Wausau curbs underage tobacco use

Businesses in the city of Wausau achieved a 92.6 percent compliance rate on 2012 tobacco inspections conducted by the Wisconsin Wins program in conjunction with local law enforcement and county health departments.

Teams of minors were sent into 27 establishments in Wausau during 2012 to purchase tobacco products, and all but two refused sales to minors.

The Wisconsin Wins campaign is a state initiative designed to decrease youth access to tobacco products. The program was launched in 2002 as part of a comprehensive approach to preventing youth access to tobacco. ...
