Everest to begin new 4k program

Parents of children in the D.C. Everest Area School District will be able to register for the district's new 4-year-old kindergarten program starting next month.

The program will begin in the 2013-14 school year and will be offered at a dozen child care centers in the area. Offering the early childhood program, which will be free for parents, has long been a goal of Superintendent Kris Gilmore and other district leaders because of the educational benefits such programs have been found to provide.
