Larry the Logroller in Wabeno was felled when part of a tree being cut down landed on the statue about noon Thursday. Behind him is the bandshell, which was destroyed in a storm last summer. The town plans to rebuild the bandshell this summer.

For the first time, a tree got the upper hand on Larry the Logroller.

The longtime mascot of Wabeno's logging history was accidentally felled Thursday as a company was removing trees from the downtown park.

"He's going to need shoulder surgery and back surgery," said Larry Rummel, the town's park board chairman. "We'll get him back together." ...
