Speaking contest open to all students

The annual Oratorical Speaking Contest will take place on Tuesday, Feb. 19 at 6 p.m. at Webster Stanley Middle School, 915 Hazel St., Oshkosh. This contest is sponsored by Oshkosh Noon Optimist Club and Winnebago County UWEX 4-H Youth Development. This contest is open to all youth in kindergarten through 12th grade. No prior involvement in the 4-H Youth Development Program is required. There are three contest divisions:

? Speaking

? Demonstration

? Optimist International Oratorical Contest

Participants are divided into levels based on their grade in school. Students may speak on any subject, and there is no time limit.

The Optimist International Oratorical Contest's topic is "Why My Voice is Important." This contest is open to all students under the age of 19, and must be between four and five minutes long.
