Citizenship in the Community merit badge is one of the 21 merit badges required to earn Eagle Scout. The merit badge focuses the Scouts on learning more about how their local community functions and the responsibilities that we all have. Among many other requirements for this merit badge, the Scouts recently attended an Oshkosh School Board meeting and will be contacting elected officials regarding local issues to gain a better insight into how Oshkosh government functions. They also will be learning more about charitable organizations and volunteering eight hours to assist them in their mission.

2013 looks to be an exciting year for Boy Scout Troop 601. The Troop has planned a Winter Wilderness Survival Day, numerous campouts, summer camp, hikes, and much more.

For more information on the fun of Boy Scout Troop 601, please call Chris Cochrane, scoutmaster, at (920) 450-3117.
