Weekday bus service returns to Wausau's south metro area

Bus service returned to the south metro area Jan. 2 after a yearlong hiatus, granting riders the independence to get to work, doctor appointments and run errands without needing a car.

Jaymi Stewart, 28, lives in Wausau without access to a vehicle. She travels to Marshfield Clinic in Weston once a month for doctor appointments and shops at Target and the Dollar Tree about once a week. While bus service was suspended, Stewart relied on friends to get outside of the city of Wausau.

"A lot of people don't have access to transportation, and cabs are costly, and there's just not a lot of them around ...
