Former D.C. Everest athlete Sam Barber surpassed 1,000 career points with the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point women's basketball team this past weekend, becoming the 19th player in the program's history to accomplish the feat.

Barber, a senior guard, reached the milestone with a jump shot 12 minutes into her team's 51-49 win Jan. 5 over the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. Barber is averaging 17.9 points per game this year for the Pointers, who are 11-3 overall and 3-2 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
