Official: Basketball tourney will pump $3M into local economy

The state tournament for high school girls basketball in March could pour $3 million into the local economy - more than some of the largest conventions that visit the area.

Brad Toll, president and chief executive at the Greater Green Bay Convention and Visitors Bureau, on Friday said the three-day Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association State Girls Basketball Tournament at the Resch Center would be equal to about six large conventions.

"We're going to hit this out of the park," he said. "We want to prove ourselves to the WIAA." ...
