Time to tap Fort Knox gold

There is some talk going around for the federal government to create an Emergency Contingency Fund for disaster relief purposes. We can assume that this current government is too broke to even consider such a plan for now and into the future. So why not open the vault at Fort Knox where there is approximately $500 billion worth of gold just collecting dust. Much of this gold was acquired at $35 an ounce and is worth around $1,650 an ounce today.

We've got thousands of U.S. citizens needing financial help and 435 (inept?) congressmen fighting over how to help out and the answer clearly resides in the vault at Fort Knox. Congressman Ribble, please take the leadership position on this issue and make this happen.
