Family commitments will keep Donald Driver from attending a Brown County Board ceremony Wednesday night in his honor, but lawmakers still plans to declare Thursday Donald Driver Day in the county.
Supervisors had invited the Green Bay Packers career receptions leader to be honored for his civic and athletic contributions to the community, but Driver will be attending to family matters in his native Texas.
"I am very grateful for the honor," Driver said Tuesday in a statement issued by the Packers. "I want to thank the Brown County Board of Supervisors for this opportunity."
Board leaders plan to issue a proclamation Wednesday night commending Driver's contributions, which include fund-raising to help the homeless. Chairman Patrick Moynihan Jr. and County Executive Troy Streckenbach signed the proclamation Tuesday.
