Reader question: Could you let me know where I can redeem my $50 Kensington Grille gift certificate that I received as a Christmas gift?

Answer: In my Jan. 5 story on The Kensington Grille’s closure, I asked if other restaurant owners wanted to voluntarily redeem those gift certificates in the interest of goodwill.

None responded.

If that changes, I’ll update this post.

So right now, the only way you can get money back is if the gift-giver purchased the certificate with a credit card. He or she can dispute the charge with the credit card company.

Otherwise, you can take your chances that owner Bob Doller will have funds to pay off certificate holders later on. He made no promises, but said he’ll try if you send your name, certificate number, amount and phone number to him at the restaurant’s address, 2400 S. Kensington Drive, Appleton, WI 54915.

If you’d like to file a formal complaint, go to the Better Business Bureau at bbb.org and/or Wisconsin’s consumer protection bureau at datcp.wi.gov.
