Crop production dips in Wisconsin in 2012

Wisconsin farmers in many parts of the state faced a tough growing season last year due to drought and abnormally dry conditions.

A selection of year-end numbers for major crops showed diminished production numbers in 2012.

The state's farmers averaged a yield of 121 bushels per acre of corn for grain last year, down from an average of 156 bushels per acre in 2011, according to an annual report released Wednesday by the Wisconsin field office of the National Agricultural Statistics Service. ...
