Merrill restaurant to pay $41,000 in sexual harassment settlement

A Merrill restaurant will pay $41,000 to one of its former waitresses in a settlement of a sexual harassment and retaliation lawsuit.

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission in 2011 sued Qemal Alimi, the owner of New Pine Ridge Restaurant, 300 S. Pine Ridge Ave., charging that Alimi violated federal law by allowing female employees to be sexually harassed and not acting to stop it.

A federal judge Monday ordered Merrill Pine Ridge LLC and Kim's Wisconsin LLC, jointly doing business as New Pine Ridge Restaurant, to pay $41,000 to Sherry L. Brown, one of the harassment victims. ...
