"Houston, we have a problem," said Adam Passineau, a 15-year-old ninth-grader at East Junior High School in Wisconsin Rapids.

Passineau was referring to a challenge in family and consumer science class: The tip of his pastry bag had just fallen on top of the cupcakes he was decorating.

The teen is one of the more than 60 students enrolled in this semester's teen cuisine class, which resembled a segment of the Food Network's "Cupcake Wars" this week. ...
