Lincoln High School (LHS) Red Raiders boys' hockey team and LHS Hockey Booster Club will be hosting "Stick it to Cancer" night at their home games against Marshfield Senior High School on Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013, at the South Wood County Recreation Center in Wisconsin Rapids. The JV team will play at 5 p.m., and the varsity team will play at 7 p.m.

Wisconsin Rapids players will be wearing special jerseys for the evening with lavender accents. The lavender color was chosen as it represents all cancers. The goal of the event is to raise funds to be donated to the UW Riverview and the Marshfield Clinic Cancer Centers. High school hockey players from both schools have pre-sold lavender T-shirts with all proceeds being donated. Players and their families are also selling lavender wristbands, donated by TLC Travel, for $2 and will be available that evening. We will also gladly accept any monetary donations you would like to give. Since the beginning of the 2012/13 hockey season, Mark Olinyk from Mark Toyota of Plover, has donated $10 for every goal scored by the Red Raiders at their home games; $850 has been raised so far.

The varsity game will be broadcast on 105.5 FM by Bob Look, the voice of the Badgers. He is also donating two tickets to a UW Badger hockey game which will be raffled off during our game.

The evening is sure to be a fun-filled event. After the game, there will be a check presentation to representatives of the UW Riverview and the Marshfield Clinic Cancer Centers. Please join us in supporting Red Raider Hockey and our fight against cancer.

The best assist happens off the ice!
