Closed dairy gives milk to Salvation Army

The Salvation Army of Brown County has received a large milk donation from a dairy processor that closed earlier this month.

"It will help hundreds of families," Nan Pahl, local director of social services, said of the more than 160 crates of milk that were delivered Friday morning to the nonprofit's warehouse at 2954 Holmgren Way. The milk was donated by Waukesha-based Golden Guernsey Dairy, which had operated for 83 years before it suddenly closed Jan. 5. The company had supplied milk to schools, grocery stores and retailers in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Illinois and Iowa.
