Girls basketball: Late 3-pointer lifts Spencer over Dons

Spencer's Tara Matter drained a 3-pointer from right at the top of the key to send the Spencer girls basketball team to a 37-36 victory over Marshfield Columbus Catholic Thursday night at Spencer's R.J. Tack Auditorium.

The Rockets had previously lost 36-24 to the Dons in Spencer's season opener on Nov. 27.

Matter made sure that wasn't the case this time as she rose up for her shot with about 3 seconds left in the game. The Dons got a timeout with 1.4 seconds left, but had the whole length of the court and could only shoot in desperation. ...
