Advocates worry about cost of proposed building rules

The windows alone will add about $2,000 to the total cost of building. Mathwig is concerned that the new cost would give the new owners more financial stress.

Appraised property values lower than actual construction costs of recently built low-income housing illustrate concerns about the economic viability of proposed residential design standards in Oshkosh, housing industry officials told Oshkosh Northwestern media.

City officials said the proposal, which spells out minimum standards and requirements for new construction and upgrades to existing housing, are still in the early stage of consideration and will ultimately be refined by community feedback.
