The Wisconsin National Guard announced Thursday the welcome home ceremony for the Oshkosh-based Army National Guard 1157th Transportation Company will be open to the public.

Family and friends will welcome the 130-soldier unit during a ceremony at Hangar C on the Experimental Aircraft Association grounds today. The ceremony begins at 12:30 p.m.

The 1157th left Oshkosh last February for Camp Shelby in Mississippi, where they trained before deploying to Afghanistan for 10 months. While in Afghanistan, the unit performed convoy escort missions. The unit returned to the United States on Jan. 7 and has been undergoing demobilization at Camp Shelby.
