A paper industry analyst predicted Jan. 15 that at least one of the three Wausau Paper mills for sale is likely to close, and local leaders are trying to ensure that the Mosinee mill isn't the one.

Wausau Paper announced Jan. 11 that it is leaving the technical paper business and will sell its two Wisconsin mills and a mill in Minnesota. The three mills make paper used for packaging, the food industry, linings and masking tape. The mill in Mosinee employs about 400 people, Rhinelander has 447 workers and Brainerd, Minn., has 171 employees.
