Police were unable to track down a man who fled from authorities Thursday evening by jumping off a second-story balcony at an apartment building on Green Meadow Drive.

Sgt. Randy Reifsteck of the Grand Chute Police Department said officers were looking for a man wanted on probation and parole violations as well as bail jumping.

When the apartment owner gave officers permission to enter the man's second-story residence, he jumped off a balcony and fled into a wooded area, Reifsteck said. A nearby K-9 unit responded to the scene and Appleton police officers helped set up a perimeter in an attempt to locate the man.

"The individual was able to escape," Reifsteck said.

Reifsteck said the man was a Fox Valley resident who's never really had a permanent address.
