MILWAUKEE - Bank Mutual Corp. reported net income of $2.3 million, or 5 cents per share, for the fourth quarter.

That compares with $1.4 million, or 3 cents per share, in the fourth quarter of 2011.

Full-year net income was $6.8 million, or 15 cents per share, compared to a net loss of $47.6 million, or $1.03 per share, in 2011.

"Confidence in our recent earnings trend enabled us to increase our dividend to shareholders to two cents per share during the fourth quarter," said Michael Crowley, chairman and CEO.

Bank Mutual Corp. is the fourth-largest financial institution holding company headquartered in Wisconsin. Its subsidiary bank, Bank Mutual, operates 75 banking offices in Wisconsin, including in Brown County, and one in Minnesota.
