A father and son team, formerly of Appleton, is experiencing a new type of outdoors challenge as they take part in Florida's Python Challenge 2013, a snake-hunting event organized to create awareness to the worsening problems with invasive Burmese pythons in that state's wild areas.

Thomas Welch, along with son Tommy, moved his family to Doral, Fla., after accepting a position as director of college counseling at Divine Savior Academy (DSA), a Christian school attended by students from more than 35 countries, mostly in Central and South America.
