It takes a special kind of NEW Zoo fan - maybe a snow monkey - to enjoy a visit during the kind of cold temperatures forecast through the early part of this week. But once the thermometer gets back into more reasonable double-digit territories, there's still plenty of time to take advantage of the zoo's winter special.

Admission is half-price from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily in January and February. That's $3 adults, $2 ages 3-15 and 62 and older and free ages 2 and younger.

Those who bundle up can warm up by the fire in the Mayan Taste of the Tropics restaurant.
