Let's get right down to business:

? Operatives Joe and Janet get the gold stars this week for passing us word that Hometown Pharmacy opened up its 23rd location right here in Oshkosh last week at 321 N. Sawyer St. Pharmacist Jess Mangold, who has had awesome job titles like "nuclear pharmacist" and "informatics pharmacist" in the past, leads the new location's team. Call them at (920) 426-0763 for more details.

? Also, while we're at it, please welcome Bartelt Acupuncture, 146 Algoma Blvd. Suite B, to downtown. Owner Megan Bartelt, a graduate of the Midwest School of Oriental Medicine, offers acupuncture, nutritional consultations and Chinese herbal treatments. You can find out more about Bartelt and her specialties online at www.barteltacupuncture.com.

? Please join us in a round of applause for Heidel House Resort and Spa Chef Paul Cummings for being named one of seven chefs to compete in the 2013 Wisconsin Taste of Elegance in the Wisconsin Dells on Jan. 31. Cummings' original pork recipe will be judged against six other chefs from restaurants around the state based on taste, appearance and originality.

At stake is a top prize of $750 and a trip to the Culinary Institute of America. There's also a $250 Best Use of Soy Prize. If you couldn't guess, the Wisconsin Pork Association and Wisconsin Soybean Marketing Board are co-sponsors of this event, for which $20 tickets are still available.

? We're a bit late to the party, but please to welcome Rolanda Goheen and her wonderful staff at Salon Ananda, 714 Oregon St., to the south side business fold. Goheen opened in November, but has recently added staff to handle everything from hair care to facials to massages to manicures and pedicures. If you're interested in an appointment, Salon Ananda (it means 'bliss' in Hindi) even offers online booking at www.salonananda.com.

? For those of you who still miss Dainty Daisies days in Downtown Oshkosh, you'll have an opportunity to get your fix of owner Michelle Aspero and handmade crafts next month. Aspero will bring 40 crafters and creators to Becket's Center Court for "Fall in Love with Handmade" from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9. It's no coincidence that this is right before Valentine's Day, so mark your calendars and don't miss it!

? And finally, folks, please don't forget if you see something new around town or have something you'd like checked out, you can drop Streetwise a line at jbollier@thenorthwestern.com anytime. Thanks, as always, for your help!
