Day off turns into day of service for LU students

Students at Lawrence University took a day off from classes Monday in exchange for a "day on" of volunteering in recognition of Martin Luther King Jr.'s commitment to community service.

Kristi Hill, director of volunteer and community service programs at Lawrence, said more than 400 Lawrence students, faculty and staff members participated in the on- and off-campus activities Monday, which was Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
