There are a few jobs in this world that I know I could never do. One is driving a school bus; another is working in a day care center. I also know that I could never be a director of an animal shelter. The fact that my daughter, Jessica Beaumia, does just that never ceases to amaze and baffle me.

What makes the position of shelter director so challenging is that you need to be equally talented and compassionate in dealing with all types of both animals and people.
