Local produce at the Stevens Point farmers market will be even more local than ever before.

The City Council on Monday night approved restricting permits to only farmers within a 30-mile - previously it had been 60 miles - radius of Stevens Point.

"The Stevens Point farmers market has been quite popular ... for vendors," said Dan Mielke, of the Farmer's Market Association. "The vast majority of (farmers) were in favor of this deal as a better way to protect the local farming community." ...
