Wrestling: Merrill at SPASH, 7:30 p.m. Thursday: The Bluejays, ranked No. 3 in the latest Crossface Division 1 state poll, will try and keep their hopes for the Wisconsin Valley Conference title alive against a youthful Panthers team which suffered its first conference loss last week against Wausau West. A highlight weight to watch is at 126 pounds as both Merrill's Scott Arneson and SPASH's Fritz Schierl, who are both honorable mention picks at their weight in the state poll as well.

Girls hockey: Marshfield at Point/Rapids, 7 p.m. Friday: This is a rematch of a game earlier this season (Dec. 14) won by Marshfield 6-3. Marshfield sits a half-game out of first place in the Great Northern Conference at 6-1-1, while Point/Rapids stands 6-2 in conference play. The winner still has conference title hopes, the loser can likely wave bye-bye to those hopes. Paige Johnson has been sizzling and has 37 points for the Tigers, while Rachel Metz and Sarah Peplinski spearhead the Panthers' attack.

Boys basketball: Amherst at Pacelli, 7:30 p.m., Friday: The Falcons (7-1) sit a game behind Central Wisconsin Conference 8 leader Shiocton (8-0) and can ill-afford to stumble against the Cardinals (5-3) in what has developed into a strong rivalry. Amherst won the earlier meeting 57-42, but Pacelli has gone 8-1 since that loss and would like to play the spoiler. Marcus Jensen, the coach's son, and Caleb Glennon average 14.6 and 12.5 points a game to pace the Falcon attack. Isaac Elliott (12.6) and James Gollon (12.2) lead the way for the Cardinals.
