Family dog dies in barn fire near Bear Creek

A family dog perished in a barn fire Tuesday evening near a residence about 6 miles south of Clintonville.

Dispatch advised fire crews that animals were inside a barn at N8523 Mill Creek Road. Firefighters were called to the scene around 7:30 p.m.

According to the Bear Creek Volunteer Fire Department, other animals inside the barn managed to escape, but a family dog did not survive.

Firefighters from Clintonville and New London assisted in putting out the blaze. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
