Radon causes roughly 2,900 deaths each year among Americans who have never smoked and is second only to cigarettes as the leading cause of lung cancer, according to the Environmental Protection Agency.

But since radon is invisible and odorless, most people don't know they are at risk until they are sick.

The average radon rating for American homes is 1.3 pCi/L (pico Curies per liter), which is safe. Any homeowner with a level of 4 or above should mitigate indoor radon to reduce the risk of lung cancer. ...
