Jan. 23, 1956 - Registrar is named at St. Norbert: Miss Gertrude M. O'Brien today was named registrar of St. Norbert College effective Feb. 1 by the Rev. Dennis M. Burke, O. Praem., president of the college.

She succeeds acting registrar, the Rev. G.G. Claridge, O. Praem., who has held the position since 1953.

A native of Boscobel, Miss O'Brien brings to the St. Norbert office 26 years of registrar experience. She served in that capacity at Stout State College from 1928 until September 1955, when she joined the St. Norbert faculty as an assistant to Father Claridge.

Miss O'Brien holds both undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Wisconsin. She was granted her master of philosophy degree in 1928, after having earned her bachelor's degree earlier.

She has teaching experience in Wisconsin secondary schools and membership in the American Association of University Women and Wisconsin Registrars Assn.
