Four sentenced for illegal bear-hunting

A 48-year-old Gillett man accused of poaching for years will spend six months in prison and lose his hunting privileges for 15 years for serving as a guide on two illegal bear hunts.

John Kellogg must also donate $10,000 to state and federal wildlife funds, U.S. District Judge William Griesbach ordered Friday. He will serve three years of supervision after his prison time, Griesbach ordered.

Three of Kellogg's hunting companions, ages and addresses unknown, were sentenced earlier for their role in the hunts, which took place in September 2009 and September 2011 near Gillett, according to ...
