A rare lull on the schedule allowed West De Pere High School's varsity boys basketball team plenty of minutes, hours and days to savor its unfamiliar position.

The Phantoms have been sitting alone atop the Bay Conference standings since their pulsating, last-second win at Seymour on Jan. 15.

Their solo occupancy in first place has been unchanged. Yet, the same schedule that afforded the Phantoms a full week off between games at the midway point of the regular season has them on the move more often than usual. ...
