Council formalizes support for economic development changes

The Oshkosh Common Council unanimously approved a resolution Tuesday supporting the establishment of a public-private economic development partnership.

Oshkosh Mayor Burk Tower said the resolution directs city officials to take the steps to implement a city-funded study's recommendations and work toward creation of an independent, public-private partnership to oversee economic development efforts.

"The council supports the public-private partnership, but it's up to (City Manager Mark Rohloff) to work with others to develop some sort of partnership, whatever it may look like," Tower said.

In other business, councilors unanimously approved Rohloff's annual evaluation and $3,500 lump-sum bonus for progress on the five goals councilors gave Rohloff last year. The evaluation also includes five goals for Rohloff to accomplish in 2013 with a potential bonus of $5,000 if all five are completed in full.
