Weyauwega hands Falcons girls first loss

WEYAUWEGA - Jenni Hellwig scored 18 points, and Weyauwega-Fremont blocked a last-second shot to hold off Amherst 47-46 in a Central Wisconsin Conference-8 girls basketball game Tuesday and hand the Falcons - who entered the week as the top-ranked Division 4 in The Associated Press state poll - their first loss of the season.

The Falcons rallied from a seven-point fourth-quarter deficit to a point with six seconds left, and then Amherst forced a turnover in the Weyawega-Fremont backcourt before the last-second shot from just inside the 3-point line was blocked.
