Bundle up in your cold-weather gear and join South Wood County Humane Society, or SWCHS, for a day of wintery fun! It's time for the premier winter-time event in Wisconsin Rapids; the eighth annual Souper Snow Sculpture Spectacular is Saturday at the Centralia Center. This family-friendly event kicks off at 9 a.m.

Year after year, families in our community enjoy watching the snow sculptors. More than a dozen teams will be on site carving, molding and shaving snow into creative designs. This year's interactive show piece is fun for kids and kids at heart.

Awards will be given to the top three teams and new to this year's event is a special prize for the team with the least amount of points, sponsored by The Voice of Wisconsin Rapids.

After viewing the sculptures, warm up inside the Centralia Center. Soups, made by local restaurants, will be available to purchase. Stop by the SWCHS Pet Adoption Center to meet some of our furry friends awaiting new homes. Enjoy local afternoon entertainment by John and Mary Cismoski (Two Left Feet), Cassandra Hansen and Einstein Squared prior to the snow sculpture awards ceremony. In addition, many beautiful baskets will be raffled off. Be sure to bring your wallet and an appetite!

All proceeds from the Souper Snow Sculpture Spectacular benefit your local humane society to help offset the day-to-day expenses associated with the shelter. This event is one of our key fundraisers. Special thanks to event sponsors: WFHR/WRCW, WoodTrust Bank, Golden Sands Speedway, Dog Star Resort, The Voice of Wisconsin Rapids, Dazzling Paws Jewelry and Alliant Energy, raffle donors and volunteers who make this event possible.

Whether you are a cold-weather enthusiast or prefer the warmth of indoors, the eighth annual Souper Snow Sculpture Spectacular has something for everyone. We hope to see you there!
