Algoma junior Kennedy Blahnik gave a verbal commitment to the University of Wisconsin track and field team while attending the Badger Indoor Track Classic meet on Jan. 12.

"I never really wanted to talk about it but it was weighing on my mind," said Blahnik, who was the 2012 Gatorade Wisconsin female track and field athlete of the year. A two-time WIAA Division 3 state champion in shot put and discus, Blahnik was offered a track and field scholarship from UW in November. She said the only other school she was considering was Penn State because it hired former University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh ...
