The White Iron Band, a high-energy outlaw country band based in Minneapolis, will play at 8 p.m. Friday in The Encore of Dreyfus University Center at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.

A solid lineup of guitars, keyboards, bass and drums power a train engineered by frontman Matt Pudas, who blasts harmonica and hurls lyrics to produce a swelling, visceral wave of sound. Inspired by the everyday, the band's songs are about love, pain, jail, work and whiskey (not necessarily in that order).

Admission costs $5 or free for UWSP students.
