BABYSITTING WORKSHOP is being offered for fourth and fifth graderrs. The workshop will address many everyday situations and emergencies that could occur while babysitting. Students are encouraged to bring a snack as this class meets right after school. Class meets Tuesdays from 3:45 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. at Weston Elementary School on Apr. 2, 9, 16, and 23. Cost is $37.
ADVENTURE CARE is a licensed, activity-based child care program that meets before school from 6:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. and after school from 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Evergreen, Riverside, Rothschild, Mountain Bay and Weston elementary schools. Care also is available on early release days, snow days, and no school days at an additional fee. Registration fee is $30 for one child and $45 for multiple siblings. The weekly fees are $37 for before school care, $60 for after school care and $87 for both before and after care. EVEREST ADVENTURE CARE (formerly Care Corner Camp) will be held this summer at Greenheck Field House. Summer camp dates will be June 10 to Aug. 30. Camp will feature activities and field trips planned around the weekly themes. All camp fees will include morning and afternoon snacks and lunch. Details and registration forms will be coming out soon, attached to the Friday elementary newsletters.
YOUTH INDOOR SOCCER for children ages 4 through fifth grade now is open for registration. Four-year-olds and kindergartners will meet from 2:40 p.m. to 3:40 p.m.; grades one and two will meet from 3:50 p.m. to 4:50 p.m.; and grades three through five from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sundays, Feb. 17, 24, March 3, 10 and 17 at the Greenheck Field House. Children in grades one through five are required to wear shinguards. Space is limited at each level, so early registration is recommended. The cost is $28 per child, which includes a soccer jersey. CARE GIVING FOR A LOVED ONE is designed to provide information to care givers who have concerns about their loved ones. The three sessions will cover understanding the process of aging, the different stages of caregiving, family caregiving, the driving dilemma, the language of caregiving, and senior housing. Classes meet Thursdays, Apr. 4, 11, 18, from 6:30 p.m. to-8 p.m. in Greenheck Field House, room 209. Cost is $35.
FIRST AID is an American Red Cross course that includes a three year certification in first aid. Course includes a book, administrative fee, and card. Course will meet Wednesday, Apr. 10, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. in Greenheck Field House, room 110. Cost is $55.
COOK LIKE A DIVA will teach participants how to adapt recipes, prepare meals in advance, freeze meals, and stock your freezer to make meal time a breeze. Class meets Thursday, Feb. 28 ,from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the senior high, room 130. $28.00.
SOAPMAKING will teach you how to make your own soap from scratch. You will take home 24 bars of old fashion soap. This is a hands on workshop that covers each step in the process. Participants will need to come with their own supplies from a list provided. Class meets Saturday, Apr. 13 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the senior high, room 130. Cost is $15.
ZUMBA fuses hypnotic rhythms and easy to follow moves to create a dynamic fitness program for all ages. Come experience an absolute blast in one exhilarating hour of calorie burning, body energizing movements meant to engage and captivate participants. The next class will be held on Wednesdays, Feb. 20 to Mar. 20, from 6:15 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. in the junior high lunch room. Cost is $20.
INTRODUCTION TO PICKLEBALL Once you try this sport you will be hooked. It is a combination of tennis and racquetball but slower with shorter distances. The ball used is lighter and slower moving then a traditional tennis or racquetball. This introductory class will meet in the Greenheck Field House on Tuesday, Apr. 2, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Cost is $3.
WATER AEROBICS began Nov. 12 from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in the senior high pool. Water aerobics typically meets on Monday and Thursday evenings until late May. The class will not meet on Jan. 21 during the winter session. You will get a workout with the added resistance of the water. No preregistration is required, and the fee is paid at the door. Cost is $2 per session or $20 for a 13-session punch card.
GREENHECK FIELD HOUSE MEMBERSHIPS The Greenheck Field House has fitness/workout memberships available to the public. A one-year membership is $100, or you may elect a 6-month membership for $55. Tours of the facilities are available. Please call our office at 715-359-6563, ext. 1, to set up a time and date. Also available are ice skating, pool and racquetball memberships. You do not have to live in the D.C. Everest Area School District to become a member of the Greenheck Field House.
