Members of the Oakfield Modern Woodmen of America chapter will sponsor a fund-raiser on Thursday, Feb. 7, to benefit Dolores and Fred "Fritz" Werth.
Plans for the fund-raiser include a silent auction, raffles, bake sale, and food sales. The fund-raiser will be held at Tony's Pizza located at 420 Fond du Lac St. in Waupun, from 4 to 8 p.m. The money raised will be matched by Modern Woodmen's home office, up to $1,250, through the fraternal benefit society's Matching Fund Program and will be used to off-set expenses related to medical illnesses.
Both Dolores and Fred are battling cancer. Dolores was diagnosed with liver cancer; and Fred was diagnosed with prostate and bone cancer.
Find an extra special Valentine's gift at Tony's Pizza on Feb. 7 and help enhance the lives of these two sweethearts. An account has been set up at The National Bank of Waupun for additional monetary donations.
The Matching Fund Program offers Modern Woodmen members, nationwide, the chance to show their support for a community cause, organization or individual in need by holding fundraisers. These fundraising projects contribute more than $6.5 million to community needs nationwide each year.
"With this project, every dollar truly counts," says Sandy, local Modern Woodmen chapter activities coordinator. "It's exciting to be involved in a project that is so important to our community."
Coordinated by local Modern Woodmen members, chapters provide opportunities to take part in social activities and community service projects to meet local needs.
