The Lomira Relay for Life committee will be hosting two Coaches vs. Cancer basketball games.

Feb. 1: The games will feature the Lomira Lions girls basketball team versus the North Fondy Girls Basketball team on Feb. 1, at the Lomira High School gym. The girls game will include a cake sale.

Feb. 14: The second game will be the Lomira Lions Boys Basketball team versus the Mayville Cardinals basketball team on Feb. 14. The boys game will include a bake sale.

The event is part of the Lomira Relay for Life, sponsored by the Lomira FFA and high school students and will feature fund-raising events to earn money to find a cure for cancer.

Activities at both events will be an 83-second bucket run. Eighty-three seconds will be placed on the clock while students will gather money in buckets from the crowd.

Recently at the Lomira wrestling match versus Omro, the event raised $188. The reason for 83 seconds is that 83 people in Wisconsin will be diagnosed with cancer each day. We want to end this disease and find a cure, please help and bring along spare change and donate to the cause.

All funds raised at the Coaches vs. Cancer will go to the overall goal of trying to raise $35,000 to fight cancer. Fans are encouraged to wear pink clothing to help encourage their teams in this event. Pink wristbands and pink shirts will be available for purchase that evening.
