10 YEARS AGO: Members of the Hewitt Area Fire Department are starting a push for a new fire engine. Voters will have the chance to voice their opinions about the purchase in the April 1 election.

Northcentral Technical College will host an open house Feb. 5 at the Spencer campus. The open house is intended for anyone interested in returning to school, looking for a course or seeking to enroll in a career area.

25 YEARS AGO: LeeAnn Carolfi recently was named president of the Richfield 4-H Club. Others elected were Lori Kolstad, vice president; Cheryl Steffen, secretary; Mark Albright, treasurer; Kelly Albright, Jason Kolstad and Jerold Bump, flag bearers.

50 YEARS AGO: Immanuel Lutheran Church of Globe has postponed its annual meeting due to the illness of the pastor, the Rev. J. G. Ruege. He had been a patient at Saint Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield, but now is confined to his home.

75 YEARS AGO: Maxwell Jenks of Abbotsford received an honorary membership in the National Federated Craft No. 40, Stevens Point, at a dinner meeting and program at the Masonic Temple. Jenks is the grand master of the grand Masonic Lodge of Wisconsin.
