WWII draftees to celebrate 70th anniversary

Of the 57 draftees who left Waupaca on Feb. 11, 1943, 12 still are living.

They have scheduled a reunion at Bucky's Restaurant in New London, on Feb. 11, the 70th anniversary of their ride to Milwaukee and a physical examination before choosing the Army or Navy and being sworn in to their desired branch of service.

The group has been meeting annually on Feb. 11 since 2005. ...
